Marcio Braga dreams of better days for Flamengo. Since taking over at Flamengo in early 2004, president Marcio Braga has been insisting that the club is facing insolvency and that fiscal realignment would be the solution to prevent the red-and-black team from closing. Now, in August 2007, the outlook for the Gávea team is brighter, and the director breathes a sigh of relief. In an interview with GLOBOESPORTE.COM, he discusses the signing of the Timemania regulations and the project to revitalize Flamengo's headquarters.
Regulation of Timemania
Of course, it's a victory for Flamengo and for Brazilian football. But before anything else, we have to read the regulations that will be published. We didn't receive them at Tuesday's ceremony. From then on, we'll begin to take action.
Clearance Certificate of Debt\ Flamengo will have it in their hands in a month or two. Caixa Econômica Federal will present its regulations and show us the membership agreement, which will contain a clause acknowledging the debt. If the contractual amounts match Flamengo's, everything will be fine. In exchange, Flamengo will cede its trademark. With that, the club will have the certificate and begin a new life.\
Gávea revitalization project
Councilwoman Andrea Gouvêa Vieira is campaigning against Flamengo. This story that Flamengo wants to build a shopping mall is a lie. The truth is what was published in the newspapers. We made an announcement to show our objective to those who didn't know. In its revitalization project, Flamengo will build 140 square meters. To give you an idea, 60 square meters will be dedicated to parking, creating 1.836 spaces. Of the total, only 17% will be used for the construction of stores linked to sporting events. How could a building with six gymnasiums, a swimming pool, and a soccer field be called a shopping mall?
Bidding for revitalization
We need to overturn the councilwoman's injunction, which is preventing construction from starting. We have all the necessary permits. We just need to show everyone that Flamengo doesn't want to build a shopping mall. Once the injunction is overturned, we'll begin the bidding process for the companies.
Juniors in Malaysia
This junior team is exciting. It's impossible not to be, right? We're already among the top four in the world in this category. Now, let's root for them to win the title.
