The microblogging site Twitter has become a craze in Brazil. Among the celebrities using the page are several Flamengo athletes—from basketball, water polo, gymnastics, and, of course, soccer. It's a unique opportunity for fans to feel a little closer to their idols. But contact between the athletes themselves has also increased. Soccer and basketball players have been demonstrating a rapport in the virtual world. This is the case with Saba and Atila dos Santos.

The two are running a joint promotion on the page. Followers must create a sentence with the words "Cidadão Rubro-Negro" (Red-Black Citizen), @atiladossantos e @vitorsaba (Athletes' usernames). Saba will choose one user to win an autographed ball from Atila, who will decide who will win a jersey, also autographed, from Vitor. It's a unique initiative that was approved by fans.

"How cool! Football and basketball going hand in hand! That's Flamengo," said internet user Carol Viana.

On Sunday (12.12), invited by Atila, Saba will watch the game between Flamengo and Pinheiros for the New Basketball Brazil (NBB), at 15:30 pm, in Tijuca, and he is very excited.

"I'm really excited to go to the Mengão basketball game! I hope to see Atila and Helio perform," he commented.

The pivot has over a thousand followers, while the left midfielder has almost four thousand. Atila, by the way, became known among the Red-Black Nation on Twitter also for his unconditional support for the red-black sport, not just soccer. It's common to see him cheering on Cesar Cielo at swimming competitions (@cielofc), for example. The shipowner Helio (@helio_5) is another who is always in contact with players and fans and even has a column on a website created by fans.
