Flamengo idols beat Botafogo idols 9-6 in the Rio-São Paulo Showbol match

Fans in Volta Redonda who had the opportunity to watch Flamengo and Botafogo face off in the 3rd Rio-São Paulo Showbol Tournament on Tuesday night were treated to a spectacle featuring players who made history for the red-and-black club. The team, which featured Djalminha, Junior Baiano, Marquinhos, Fabio Baiano, Piá, and others, defeated the black-and-whites 9-6 and got off to a flying start in the competition.

The current Brazilian champions, Flamengo's team boasts the world's best Showbol player, Djalminha, and, as expected, the number 10 was the match's standout performer. He led the victory, scoring three goals and providing two assists. Piá also scored three times. Fabio Baiano scored twice, and Alexandre Gaúcho completed the scoring.

"It was an important victory to give us peace of mind for the rest of the competition. The team showed its strength, its quality, and the most important thing is that we pleased the fans, who turned out in great numbers," said Djalminha, at the end of the match, in an interview with SporTv.

Flamengo returns to play in the Rio-São Paulo Showbol tournament on Thursday, December 10th, in Duque de Caxias. The team faces Fluminense, concluding its participation in the first phase, where the Rio de Janeiro teams face each other on Sunday, December 13th, against Vasco, in Casemiro de Abreu. The top two teams from Rio's top teams qualify for the semifinals, which will be held on Friday, December 18th, in Volta Redonda, against the top two teams from São Paulo. The final will be on the 20th, again in the Steel City.
