Flamengo physiologist called up by the National Team for the World Aquatics Championships
Nathália Medeiros started at the club as a swimmer, was a water polo athlete and today is a great student of sports physiology
By Communication - Official Club Website - inA former athlete and now physiologist for Clube de Regatas do Flamengo, Nathalia Medeiros has a history within the club, and thanks to her hard work and dedication to rowing and swimming for Flamengo, she was called up to the Brazilian National Team for the second time. This time, the challenge is enormous: Nathalia is part of the coaching staff of the swimming team that will be competing in the World Aquatics Championships in Barcelona, which will take place from July 19th to August 04th.
"I was very happy and surprised with the call-up, as I have been preparing through a lot of study, dedication, and hard work. It will truly be a very important competition, and I hope to contribute, along with the other members of the coaching staff, to continue the excellent work done by the Brazilian swimming team," said the physiologist.
Nathália Medeiros, 26, joined Flamengo in 2001 to become a swimmer. She later became a water polo player and, in 2010, became a laureate athlete for the club. A year earlier, she graduated in physical education from Gama Filho University. During her time at university, Nathália began interning at Flamengo, where she participated in a scientific research group on soccer physiology and worked in the swimming and rowing departments.
In July 2010, Nathália was officially hired by Flamengo. She is currently part of a research group developed within the club's rowing department, CEPED, led by Dr. Roberto Nahon.
"Flamengo is a training club, and this was no different in my case. It was fundamental to my development, as I had the opportunity to work as an intern, working in different areas. I always received support from the club's swimming and rowing coaches. This way, the work can be developed in a practical way and applied to high performance. The CRF allowed me to work alongside Olympic swimmers such as Nicholas Santos, Cesar Cielo, Joana Maranhão, and others who were part of the team. Thus, I was able to work with these high-performance swimmers even before joining the Brazilian National Team," said the physiologist.
Nathália Medeiros is currently in Tenerife, Spain, for pre-World Championship training. She is a member of the Brazilian men's swimming team as an exercise physiologist. After training in Spain, she will travel to Rome, Italy, where Brazil will compete in the Sette Colli Trophy from June 13.06 to 15.06.
