Rio de Janeiro has gained another tourist attraction to cement its position as a global sports center. Flamengo and Olympikus opened Fla Concept, the megastore for the team's official sports brand, on Monday night. The opening brought together stars such as Bruno, Léo Moura, David, and Zé Roberto, as well as coach Andrade, and other personalities, including libero Fabi of the Brazilian national volleyball team, actor José Wilker, musician Dudu Nobre, and Bruno Antunes, son of striker Zico, the club's greatest idol.
"It's a gift that Flamengo and Olympikus bring to the fans. In the store, fans will see products to dress the Flamengo brand from head to toe. And the store offers much more than that. It's the first step towards a city that will become a global sports center with the 2014 World Cup and the 2016 Olympics. I have no doubt that it will be one of the most visited places in Rio de Janeiro," emphasized Tullio Formicola Filho, Sports Marketing Director at Olympikus.
"Next year, on Flamengo's anniversary, we will inaugurate the museum, which will be the most modern in the country. We are preparing for a major leap forward, which will be the revitalization of Gávea," explained Flamengo president Márcio Braga. "It was a big dream, and the fans can be sure that the entire board and every Flamengo employee and collaborator worked hard to make this a real transformation. We are experiencing a very special moment, with the opening of the store and the club's good form, directly competing for the Brazilian championship title," added vice president Delair Dumbrosck.
"The store is a gift to fans and a symbol of the new era Flamengo is experiencing. An era of great results on the field, of a unique relationship with its sports brand and its fans. An era that will bring much joy, many achievements, and progress for the club," concluded Flamengo's Marketing Director, Ricardo Hinrichsen.
Fla Concept offers the full line of official uniforms, casual wear, and a wide variety of Flamengo-branded products. It occupies a prime location in the Gávea entrance hall, with a unique view of Rodrigo de Freitas Lagoon. Spanning 1.300 square meters, the store is the first step in a more ambitious project that has already transformed the club's image and includes the 2010 opening of the Flamengo Museum.
"Olympikus deserves congratulations; the fans deserved this space," said goalkeeper Bruno. "I really liked it; Flamengo is a great club and deserves a store of this size. The store is more than 100% approved," said midfielder Zé Roberto. "Everything about Flamengo is grand; Flamengo deserves a megastore, with a variety of products where fans can buy everything from uniforms to gifts," said musician Dudu Nobre.
