To honor the world's largest fan base, Flamengo and Olympikus will release four versions of commemorative stamps marking the 30th anniversary of their Club World Cup victory in Japan, printed on the club's new jerseys. Four stamp models feature the name of the city of Tokyo written in Spanish, English, Japanese, and Portuguese. The jerseys were unveiled on March 1st at the Fla Concept store in Gávea, Rio de Janeiro.
The first model is available in Spanish (Tokio) and the second in English (Tokyo), with 200 pieces each. The model with Japanese characters will be a special edition, with only 10 shirts and labels numbered from 00001 to 10.000, starting in August. The Tokyo model, in Portuguese, will go into circulation next, with no set quantity initially.
"Flamengo has the largest fan base in the world, fans all over the world, and is celebrating 30 years since winning a world title. That's why we're never going to tire of honoring Flamengo fans. They deserve all the attention," says Tullio Formicola Filho, sports marketing director at Grupo Vulcabras/azaleia, owner of the Olympikus brand.
Tribute to the ambassadors
On the occasion of the launch of the shirts, on March 1st, Olympikus and Flamengo had already paid tribute to the club's ambassadors spread across the four corners of the world: on the eve of the presentation of the uniforms, the sports brand and the club sent the new shirts to the representatives of the red-black nation in Brazil and abroad.
Each of them committed to taking photos wearing the jersey in front of a landmark or monument in the city or region. The images will be featured on a large panel that will be installed in the window of the Fla Concept store in Gávea, as well as on Flamengo's website and social media.
"We have Flamengo representatives from the interior of Bahia, or from São Paulo, to China, Japan, France, Italy, Germany, Portugal, Bolivia, and the United States... Flamengo fans are everywhere, in most countries, and the Biggest Fanbase in the World Makes the Difference, as the phrase printed on the new Flamengo shirts manufactured by Olympikus says," says Tullio. The club currently has 38 Flamengo embassies in Brazil and abroad, and another 140 are in the process of obtaining official certification.
