Clube de Regatas do Flamengo and Olympikus, the official sports brand, will bring together some of the main characters and witnesses of the team's history to launch the Foundation Stone of the Flamengo Museum on the 16th (Tuesday), a work so important that it will be entitled to a Time Capsule to immortalize information and testimonies about the club, the city and even the history of the country.

The Flamengo Museum is the centerpiece of a project revitalizing the club's headquarters in Gávea and creating a new tourist attraction in the city. In addition to several facilities showcasing all the club's sports and traditions, the museum houses a unique collection featuring characters who tell more than just Flamengo stories, but also explore 115 years of sports in Brazil.

To mark the groundbreaking, the club and the sports brand are hosting a ceremony with the press and guests and launching a new initiative to preserve the club's history: a Time Capsule that will feature journalistic content, testimonials from directors, analyses from sports commentators, and messages from fans and students. The Capsule, a 70-centimeter brushed steel box, will be sealed on the day the cornerstone is laid and opened in a decade, when the club turns 125.

The Museum will be a space to relive and learn about soccer's glorious past, from its popularization with Leônidas and Domingos da Guia to the golden age of Zico, Júnior, Adílio, and many others. But it will also be a museum of rowing, swimming, the decade-long basketball championship, the revelations in Olympic gymnastics and track and field, and much more.

Investments

Olympikus will invest R$8 million in advance royalties for the construction of the Flamengo Museum. This is an unprecedented investment from a brand that has already revolutionized the sports market with Flamengo. In the first 12 months of the partnership, starting in July 2009, the club's uniform sales reached 1.877.000 shirts.

Olympikus also opened the Fla Concept megastore in Gávea, spanning 1.300 square meters, the largest in Latin America and one of the largest in the world. It also innovated with the creation of official uniforms, the launch of the third jersey, and casual wear collections inspired by the Rio de Janeiro club's soccer and traditions. "We will portray the club's most valuable asset in the Museum: its unconditional love for Flamengo," stated Flamengo president Patrícia Amorim.

"The Museum is a project born from the dream of many Flamengo fans and athletes. And for that reason alone, it is already great. It is a space for members and fans to idolize the club, but also for anyone passionate about sports and the history of sports in the country. And the Time Capsule plays an important role in reinforcing the symbol of this project: the past, present, and future of this glorious history of Clube de Regatas Flamengo," said Tullio Formicola Filho, Director of Sports Marketing at Grupo Vulcabras|azaleia, the largest sports footwear and apparel company in Latin America and owner of the Olympikus brand.
