Flamengo files injunction against the awarding of the "Taça das Bolinhas" (Ball Trophy).
A court has ruled that the Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) must clarify the controversy surrounding the 1987 trophy before awarding it to any club.

Flamengo's legal department obtained, at 4:15 am on Monday (February 14.02th), an injunction preventing the delivery of the Taça das Bolinhas trophy to São Paulo, as announced last Sunday (February 13.02th). The Rio de Janeiro court ruled that while the dispute over the 1987 title between Flamengo and Sport is not resolved by the Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF), a third party, in this case São Paulo, cannot benefit from it.
The court decision was made in favor of Flamengo, since the club made a request in April 2010 to the Brazilian Football Confederation, asking for a reassessment of the decision that declares only Sport as Brazilian champion in 1987, and had not received a response until then.
According to Judge Simone Dalila Nacif Lopes, São Paulo, which was to receive the Cup this Monday, "had a direct role in causing all this controversy insofar as it participated in the decision not to carry out the crossover between the green and yellow modules (referring to the 1987 regulations, modified by the CBF during the competition).
Furthermore, according to the judge, "the receipt by São Paulo Futebol Clube of the so-called Taça das Bolinhas (Ball Trophy) violates the principle of objective good faith." It is worth noting that the defendant, CBF (Brazilian Football Confederation), according to the injunction from the Rio de Janeiro court, could be penalized with a fine of R$ 500 if it goes ahead and delivers the trophy to São Paulo.
