Two qualified in the Brazilian Under-20 Championship

Cruzeiro and Atlético-PR win their matches and are guaranteed a place in the quarterfinals

This Thursday, the second round of Group 3 of the Brazilian Under-20 Championship, being played in Rio Grande do Sul, decided the top two teams to advance to the quarterfinals. Cruzeiro and Atlético-PR both won their matches and will only decide the top-place team in a head-to-head match this Saturday.

Raposa defeated Santo André 1-0 in the day's first game, and Furacão defeated Figueirense 2-0 in the second. Since the teams from Minas Gerais and Paraná had also achieved success in the opening round, they secured their spot in the next stage of the tournament, having six points compared to none from the teams from São Paulo and Santa Catarina.

Three other groups play this Friday

The third round for the other three groups, which have five members instead of just four, takes place this Friday. SporTV will broadcast two matches from Group 2: Grêmio vs. Paraná at 19 p.m. (Brasília time), and then Corinthians vs. Goiás. In this group, Grêmio leads with six points, followed by Paraná and Fluminense, who have a bye, with three. Only the top two teams from each group advance.

In Group 1, one of the leaders, Flamengo, is off, but the other, Internacional, will be on the field at 17:30 p.m. to face Paulista. Before that, at 15:30 p.m., Palmeiras and Náutico face off. In Group 4, at 15:30 p.m., Botafogo and Juventude open the round, followed by Santos vs. Coritiba. Atlético-MG, the group's undisputed leader, rests this Friday and won't return to action until Sunday.
