Fla inaugurates beach soccer arena with victory
The red-and-black team debuted in the Copa Brasil with a rout over the Jersey Islands.

Flamengo inaugurated the beach soccer arena at the club's headquarters in Gávea last weekend, and did so with a victory. In a match valid for the first round of the Copa Brasil, the red-and-black team defeated Ilhas Jersey 9-0. President Patricia Amorim attended the event and praised the revitalization of yet another venue in Gávea.
"A popular club gets closer to its fans, its members. We brought this competition to an area of the club that was deactivated, degraded, and home to dengue mosquito breeding grounds. We were able to reverse this situation and transform it into an area where sports can be practiced, which is even more important," said the president, also praising the club's first victory in the new modality.
"We hope Flamengo emerges victorious in this competition. This is a tradition at the club: win, win, win."
Also present at the inauguration, Vice President of Administration and Fla-Gávea Cacau Cotta endorsed the president's words and promised to continue working to ensure that the club's headquarters become increasingly active.
"Patrícia's campaign promise was precisely this: to revitalize the club. This was one of the last areas that hadn't been fully developed, and we managed to utilize the space in the best possible way. That's my commitment," he said.
In the match, Flamengo faced no difficulties. Mosca (2), Diego (3), Tiago, Juninho (2) and Luan scored the red-black goals. Flamengo's next match in the competition will be this Tuesday (14.02), at 11:30 am, against Avaí (SC).
The Copa Brasil will be held in Gávea, until next Saturday (18.02), and has the participation of 29 teams. The Flamengo team receives the support of the president of the fiscal council, Dr. Leonardo Ribeiro, who helped make the championship possible together with the President and Vice-President of Fla Gávea.
