Conmebol's support for Bolivia's stance of holding matches at high altitude, in contrast to FIFA's ban on games in locations above 2.750 meters above sea level, was already expected by Flamengo. The club will take the case to the Court of Arbitration for Sport, according to Michel Assef Filho, Flamengo's legal director.

"We were expecting this from Conmebol and we will appeal to the CAS by next Monday at the latest," Assef assures.

Last year, Flamengo debuted in the Libertadores Cup playing against Real Potosí on a field located at almost 4 meters of altitude. Several players, such as Renato Augusto and Bruno, became ill and had to receive oxygen.
