On July 18th, when Flamengo and Corinthians faced off at Engenhão stadium, the most beloved team in Brazil kicked off a beautiful Red Cross campaign: the 2012 Winter Clothing Drive. Midfielder Renato, one of the team's icons, donated an official Flamengo tracksuit, autographed by the squad and on behalf of all the players, and called on the fans to do their part.

Throughout the winter, warm clothing and blankets will be collected by the Red Cross to be donated to vulnerable families in various municipalities of Rio de Janeiro. The first distribution was already made in Teresópolis on July 22nd, where 100 blankets were delivered to 35 families in Ponte do Porto, in the Vargem Grande neighborhood, in the West Zone of Rio.

Those wishing to contribute can deliver their donations of warm clothing and blankets to the branch headquarters located at Praça da Cruz Vermelha, 10 - Centro, from Monday to Friday, from 8:00 AM to 9:30 PM and on Saturdays, from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. At Flamengo's social headquarters in Gávea, those interested in helping can also leave their donations at the collection point. Both new and used items can be donated, as long as they are in good condition.
