Flamengo reaches two million fans on Facebook

The red-black page reaches an impressive milestone in just over a year on this social media platform

A little over a year ago, Flamengo launched its official Facebook page. Proven to have the largest fan base in Brazil, the club gradually made progress until it reached the two million fan mark this Wednesday (March 21.03st). Furthermore, the Flamengo page has consistently held the top spot among Brazilian clubs when it comes to fan engagement – ​​on March 19th, it peaked at 224.873 people talking about the club on this social media platform.

And the milestone is well worth celebrating among Flamengo fans. Besides being another direct channel between the club and its passionate fans, Flamengo's official Facebook page has started generating additional revenue never before seen.

"With Flamengo's fan base, you can always expect impressive numbers like this. We have a lot of room to grow, and we know it. Our goal is to become the biggest in the Americas and, later, try to be among the biggest in the world on Facebook. This social media platform is crucial for the club, generating unprecedented revenue and also providing a platform for us to promote our institutional initiatives, licensed products, and so on. All of this directly to the fans, our greatest asset," stated Henrique Brandão, Flamengo's vice president of marketing.

In March, as Flamengo approached the 2.000.000 fan mark, a campaign was launched on Flamengo's official Facebook page, with players participating. This generated an increase of over 115.000 fans in just 20 days.

Since its inception, Flamengo's official website has offered its fans over 300 official jerseys and many other official club products through raffles and cultural contests. Every week, Flamengo fans compete for prizes, whether on special occasions or in events related to the professional soccer team's matches.

According to reports from Facebook itself, Flamengo's page has the most fans in the city of Rio de Janeiro, followed by Brasilia, Manaus, São Paulo, São Luís, Fortaleza, Niterói (RJ), Salvador, São Gonçalo (RJ), Goiânia, Teresina, Belém, Juiz de Fora (MG), Aracaju, João Pessoa, Maceió, Vila Velha (ES), Nova Iguaçu (RJ), Natal and Vitória.

The red-blacks are divided, by sex, into 54% men and 46% women. These are divided, by age group, in this way: 12% men aged 13 to 17, 11% women aged 13 to 17, 22% men aged 18 to 24, 19% women aged 18 to 24, 13% men aged 25 to 34, 10% women aged 25 to 34, 5,2% men aged 35 to 44, 3,6% women aged 35 to 44, 1,5% men aged 45 to 54, 1,4% women aged 45 to 54, 0,45% men aged 55 to 64, 0,41% women aged 55 to 64, 0,44% men over 65 and 0,25% women over 65.
