With the largest fan base in the world, Flamengo has reached a significant milestone on social media: one million fans on its official Facebook page. Created in March, the space isn't just a gathering place for millions of Flamengo fans. It's also an important tool for building relationships with these fans, as well as a commercial tool.

Since its inception, Flamengo's Facebook page has provided fans with relevant sports news and a showcase for hundreds of licensed products. Fans who have followed the page since its inception have also been able to participate in numerous promotions. Just to name a few, over 200 official jerseys have already been raffled off.

Closely following Flamengo's growth on social media, Flamengo president Patricia Amorim knows how important it is to keep fans ever closer.

"It's a brand that reflects Flamengo. We know our fans are a nation, and so we can dream of much greater numbers. Even so, it's important to reach a million fans. Our greatest asset is there, the fans. We have to use every tool possible to get closer to them. Furthermore, through Facebook, we can reward some of them with official, often exclusive, products. We'd even like to reward everyone, but since there are millions and millions, it's not possible," the president jokingly congratulated.

And it's not just in the area of relationships that Flamengo has been active on social media. The club has been organizing itself to leverage this medium as an important business opportunity, and the future promises to be quite promising.

"Without a doubt, we've created a business, a tool that will bring many benefits to the club. This is the future. We're already in the market, initially negotiating with our partners so they can join us in this endeavor. We're strengthening ourselves, and with that, our brand on Facebook is also strengthening. All of this can generate revenue that Flamengo has never had before. We're very happy to have reached this milestone, but we want more. Much more," explained Flamengo's vice president of marketing, Henrique Brandão, outlining the first goal to be achieved from now on.

"We're still new to this. Other clubs have had this tool for longer, and that's why they're ahead of us. Boca Juniors, for example, has the largest page among Latin American football clubs, with over 2,5 million fans. We'll get there, without a doubt. That's our goal, and the fans will help us achieve it as soon as possible."

XNUMXst step

Happy to have reached one million fans on its official Facebook page, Flamengo hopes to soon use this platform as an important tool to launch a major fan registration campaign. Flamengo's goal is to know exactly where its fans/consumers are, what they want, and what they do.

In return, Flamengo fans who participate in the campaign will be in with a chance of winning more than 200 prizes, including official shirts and many other official Flamengo products.

"This will be a second step. We want to have more information about our fans, at least those who interact with the club online. We need to know more about our fans, some of their consumption habits, and some of their opinions on future projects. They can help us, and we'll pursue that. This is commercially important for Flamengo, and social media will undoubtedly help a lot," concluded Henrique Brandão.
