Flamengo was the team that provided the most players to the Brazilian national team for the 7-a-side World Cup. Of the twenty players called up by coach José Moraes, who also coaches the red-and-black team, eleven are from the "Mais Querido" (Best Loved Team). They will be on the field this Friday night (July 05.07th), at 20:45 pm, in the opening match of the competition against Angola. All matches will be played at the Sapucaí Arena in Rio de Janeiro.

"The Brazilian national team is based on the Flamengo team, which has won every title in recent years. It's a strong team that will help us in the competition. I hope to win the national team championship for the second time," said the Brazilian coach.

A month ago, the Flamengo Fut 7 team was welcomed by president Eduardo Bandeira de Mello at the Gávea headquarters as a tribute to their third Copa do Brasil title. The team currently plays in the Campeonato Carioca and boasts star player and idol Petkovic on its roster.
