Another Civil Defense event for children from public schools was held this Tuesday morning (August 21.08st) in Flamengo's Salão Nobre. Around 50 students from George Pfisterer School participated in the event, which featured a performance by the Maré Symphony Orchestra. The honoree was gymnast Sergio Sasaki, who took the opportunity to share his experience at the London Olympic Games, where he finished 10th in the individual all-around (combined across all six apparatuses). Along with Sasaki, Professor José Claúdio dos Santos gave a lecture on the importance of sports, responsibility, and the environment.

"It's great to be able to talk to you about my experience at the Olympic Games. I trained for 17 years to be in this competition, and it's a wonderful feeling to look up at those stands full of people cheering you on. It's worth all the blisters on my hands; being a gymnast isn't easy. I also had to have foot surgery and thought I wouldn't make it to London, but I recovered in time, went there, and did my best," said Sasaki.

The Maré Symphony Orchestra, part of the Estrada Cultural Project and comprised of 200 children, thrilled everyone in attendance and concluded with a flourish by playing the Flamengo Regatta Club anthem. A raffle for official Flamengo prizes followed.
