According to Datafolha, the tendency is for Tricolor to overtake Corinthians

Research by the Datafolha Institute shows that Flamengo is children's favorite team.

A survey among children conducted by the Datafolha Institute and published in the newspaper “Folha de São Paulo” indicated that Flamengo's future is one of growth and that São Paulo could overtake rival Corinthians in the coming years. The institute interviewed 852 children in 80 Brazilian cities. No less than 23% of the children said they support the Rio de Janeiro club. The São Paulo team came in second with 11%, ahead of rival Corinthians with 10%. The survey also revealed strong showings for Vasco (5%) and Palmeiras (5%). Next came Cruzeiro (3%), Botafogo (2%), and Santos (2%). The Brazilian national team was named as the team by 4% of the children interviewed. Flamengo only failed to emerge as the leader in the South region, where Grêmio came out on top, followed by Internacional and Corinthians. In the North and Central-West regions, São Paulo was second, with Vasco and Paysandy sharing third place. In the Northeast, Flamengo came first, São Paulo came second and the Brazilian team came third.\
