Flamengo pays tribute to the eternal Violin
Carlinhos Square and bust of the former star with illustrious guests and lots of emotion

Flamengo paid tribute this Saturday (February 12.02) to one of the greatest names in the club's football history. Luis Carlos Nunes da Silva, better known as Carlinhos, the Violin, was very moved by the inauguration of "Carlinhos Square," which is located next to the Togo Renan Soares gymnasium in Gávea. A bronze bust of the former player and coach, so many champions with the Rubro-Negro, was also installed there.
Leading the event was the club's president, accompanied by some of Flamengo's vice-presidents, all the presidents of the powers, as well as big names in Flamengo football, including the boys who won the 2011 Copinha.
One of these guests, Junior, the Maestro, representing the former players present, gave an emotional speech, recalling the victorious period when he was led by Carlinhos.
"It's a very fitting tribute to someone who is part of the club's history. I remember with great joy all the times we celebrated titles together, here in Gávea, in a restaurant. Congratulations, Carlinhos," said Junior, who gave him a shirt from the time he was managed by the former coach as a gift.
Deeply moved by everything done in his honor, Carlinhos didn't give a speech and couldn't hide his joy, despite his tears. President Patricia Amorim then used the name of the eternal red-and-black star to remind him of her wishes for the future.
"I'm very moved and deeply honored to be the club's president for such a beautiful tribute. Carlinhos represents everything we want for Flamengo. He played for all our youth teams, always played here, and was a champion many times. He's the image our young people should look up to. He always showed courage and humility, conquering everything and everyone," said Patricia Amorim.
Among the former players present, several of Flamengo's glorious eras were on display. These included Nelsinho Rosa, Silva, Julio Cesar "Uri Gueller," Adílio, Dionísio, Ananias, Arilson, Walter, Juarez, Paulo Lumumba, Jaime Valente, Alfredinho, and former president George Helal, after whom Flamengo's training center in Vargem Grande is named.
Rio de Janeiro's transportation secretary, Julio Lopes, was also present. A longtime Flamengo fan and honorary member of the club, he donated the bronze bust of Carlinhos, now on display in the square of the same name in Gávea.
Sauna reopening
Before the tribute to Carlinhos, Flamengo reopened its sauna. Having not undergone any renovations since 1993, the space was completely remodeled, becoming one of the best of its kind in Rio de Janeiro.
The renovation of the sauna, which overlooks Lagoa Rodrigo de Freitas, is part of Gávea's revitalization policy, implemented since last year by the current board.

The team that lifted the São Paulo Junior Football Cup trophy was present at the tribute to former player and coach Carlinhos, but also had its own big moment.
After the inauguration of Praça Carlinhos, the boys from Gávea had a lunch, held there, in their honor.
