Flamengo President Márcio Braga met this morning with architect Oscar Niemeyer. Márcio wore a personalized shirt with the architect's name and the number 100 on the back, a tribute to Niemeyer's 100th birthday, which he celebrated on the 15th. Márcio, who also presented him with a Flamengo jacket, told the architect about the impressive numbers of Flamengo fans, who this year brought nearly 1.4 million paying fans to Maracanã.

The President also spoke about the Torcida's listed status, now a Rio Cultural Heritage site, and made a request: that the architect design a monument honoring the Torcida Rubro-Negra and Flamengo. Oscar Niemeyer approved the idea and asked for 15 days to come up with a solution. Initially, the monument will be placed on the edge of the lagoon, in the Flamengo Remo area.
