Clube de Regatas do Flamengo deeply regrets the death of photojournalist Carlos Manoel Mesquita da Silva, photo editor of the newspaper O Dia. A die-hard Flamengo fan, he graced the club with his presence as a member for over 10 years, starting in 2001, even becoming a board member.

Carlos Mesquita's body was buried this Thursday at Caju Cemetery, in the Port Zone. This Saturday (18.02), in posthumous tribute, a minute of silence will be held for the illustrious red-black before the match between Flamengo and Resende.

With over 40 years of experience, Carlos Mesquita has worked for several newspapers, including Última Hora, Correio da Manhã, Diário de Notícias, and Jornal do Brasil. Among the many awards he has received throughout his career are the Esso Photography Award in 1982 and the Inter-American Press Association (IAPA) Award in 2007. A Flamengo fan at heart, Mesquita leaves behind two children.
