A jersey honoring Zé Carlos, the former Flamengo goalkeeper who died of cancer on July 02 at the age of 24, will be unveiled at the Maracanã Stadium this Sunday, August 47. The soccer team will take to the field wearing the jersey moments before the match against Náutico.

The jersey will cost R$69,90 as a suggested retail price. All royalties that would accrue to Flamengo will go to Zé Carlos's son, Davi de Abreu Fraga Araújo. The portion that would correspond to the profits of the manufacturer, Braziline, will also be passed on to the family member.

Gray with black sleeves, the retro model references the uniform worn by Zé Carlos when he won the 1987 Brazilian championship. The piece includes an autograph from the former player and the number 1 on the back.

According to Flamengo's executive marketing director, Ricardo Hinrichsen, the initiative has two objectives. "While we pay tribute to Zé Carlos, who participated in glorious campaigns like the 1990 Copa do Brasil and the 1986 and 1996 state championships, as well as the club's fourth championship, we also create a source of income for the family, which is important at a time of consternation like this," says Hinrichsen.

The pieces will be available for pre-order this week, including at the club's official store, FlaShop, and on Flamengo's official e-commerce site (www.flamengo.com.br). The product will hit the consumer market after August 24th.

The initiative is from the Club's Marketing Department, through the Licensing and Communication and Brand management.
