After announcing last Wednesday that it had sold 800 official Olympikus jerseys in four months, Flamengo is aiming for a new record. The "Towards a Million" campaign has been launched. The goal is to surpass the one million mark by the end of the year.
The first step of the campaign is on the opening screen of Flamengo's official website. It displays a counter with an estimated sales projection based on the average reported by Vulcabras|grendene, the company that controls the Olympikus brand, over the last four months. On average, Flamengo sells around 6.725 official Olympikus shirts per day. This average also translates to approximately 280 items per hour, or five units every minute and five seconds. Statistics show that a shirt sells in just under 13 seconds.
Officially launched on July 1st of this year at an event in Gávea, broadcast live online, the sponsorship and merchandise supply agreement was born with high expectations, with over 200 shirts ordered nationwide. In September, 60 days into the contract, the club and Olympikus were already celebrating the milestone of half a million shirts sold.
According to Flamengo's marketing director, Ricardo Hinrichsen, the volume represents a 525% increase compared to the number of shirts sold throughout last year, when the club had a different material supplier.
Olympikus is opening the Fla Concept store this month. It will be the largest soccer club store in Brazil, measuring approximately 1.200 square meters. The space will be integrated into the Flamengo Museum, a project scheduled to open in November 2.
