Students at CIEP Nação Rubro-Negra, located just a few meters from the club's headquarters, had a busy morning this Monday. With the start of the traveling project "O LEGENDÁRIO FLAMENGO," approximately 900 children—ages 04 to 12—from Rio de Janeiro's public school system had the opportunity to learn a little more about the victorious history of Clube de Regatas do Flamengo and were thrilled to see the trophies from the Interclub World Cup, the Copa Libertadores da América, and the 2009 Brazilian Championship.
In addition to the trophies, the exhibition held in the school's gymnasium featured approximately twenty banners displaying the club's most important football titles. President Patricia Amorim, vice president of football Paulo Cesar Coutinho, and football director Zinho were present, as were players Luiz Antônio and Thomás, who sent the children into a frenzy.
The leaders and athletes shared their personal and professional experiences, emphasizing education at school and at home, and a raffle of one hundred prizes was distributed among the children. The event's most memorable moment came when the club anthem was played, accompanied by the voices and applause of the children, teachers, and spectators watching from outside.
The traveling project is being developed jointly by several departments of Flamengo and aims to generate new fans in the short, medium, and long term. This statement is based on the way Flamengo has been welcomed by Rio de Janeiro's top schools and the 30.000 children who will be reached in a short period of time, between August 27th and November 29th.
