Brazil, more specifically Rio de Janeiro, will be in the spotlight in the sports world in the coming years. The Marvelous City will host matches from the 2013 Confederations Cup, the 2014 World Cup, including the final, and the 2016 Olympic Games. It's a major showcase for the Brazilian market. As the country's most popular club, Flamengo begins, starting at midnight this Thursday (March 15.03), to reach a very large niche: the international public. And the kickoff for this relationship will be the club's website, available in two versions: English and Spanish.

Fulfilled by another achievement in her administration, president Patricia Amorim highlighted the importance of Flamengo's positioning in the market. The team with the most fans in Brazil also enjoys the support of many others around the world.

"I'm very pleased to have achieved this victory. Brazil and our city will experience crucial moments in the coming years. We will be watched by the whole world, and Flamengo couldn't be left out of this. I'm sure we're closely followed by many fans abroad, not necessarily Brazilians, and they'll be even more interested in our history and our achievements with the English and Spanish websites," said the president.

When it comes to marketing, the president nailed it. Flamengo's official website, which only had a Portuguese version, received visitors from 210 different countries last year. This proves that there's a huge market to be explored outside of Brazil. All they needed to do was take the first step.

"We have a very strong brand within Brazil and are already known abroad. But we didn't have a channel to connect with our foreign fans. The launch of the website in these two languages is undoubtedly a milestone in the club's history. We will further internationalize our brand and better position it in the market. I'm sure we are a reference for many football fans, especially given the internationally renowned stars we have," explained Henrique Brandão, vice president of marketing for the club.

The English and Spanish versions of the Official Website aren't exactly the same as the Portuguese version of the club's website. It's more streamlined, but it will feature news, photo galleries, videos, pages on the club's major achievements, club facilities, and information about the sports played and the athletes.
