Flamengo will participate in Earth Hour 2010
The club's official website will be offline in support of the movement, which fights against global warming.

Clube de Regatas Flamengo will support Earth Hour, a movement organized to raise awareness of the fight against global warming. Showing its commitment to the cause, Flamengo's official website will be offline from 20:30 PM to 21:30 PM (Brasília time) this Saturday, the time during which the project takes place. Additionally, Flamengo will make two custom shirts and donate them to the organization leading the initiative.
Flamengo is still considering turning off the lights at its Gávea headquarters, as it is holding a Jiu-Jitsu event in one of its gyms. If feasible, this measure will also be taken.
The movement's organizers are calling for lights to be turned off for an hour, from the simplest homes to the largest monuments. Earth Hour began in 2007, exclusively in Sydney, Australia. In 2008, 371 cities participated. Last year, Brazil participated for the first time. Monuments and symbolic sites, such as the Eiffel Tower, the Colosseum, and Times Square, as well as Christ the Redeemer, the National Congress, and others, were left in darkness for an hour.
