The Gávea headquarters may host the Brazilian National Football Team during training for this year's London Olympics. CBF Director of National Teams Andrés Sanchez visited the club today (February 13.02th) to visit Flamengo's facilities regarding the possible use of the space between July 10th and 17th. Andrés was accompanied by Brazilian national team administrator Guilherme Ribeiro and was welcomed by club President Patricia Amorim, Vice President of Finance Michel Levy, and Vice President of External Relations Walter Oaquim. According to the CBF director, they intend to use not only the field, but also the gym and swimming pools.
"Flamengo is a great option because of its location, as it's very close to our training camp. It's important for us to be able to move around as little as possible. We need to be safe with the national team. The visibility here is great, but it's good to get closer to the fans. I believe this will be one of the locations used during training," said Sanchez.
Patricia described the opportunity to have the Brazilian team training at Gávea as a gift for the club's members and fans.
"We are already one of the headquarters of the United States Olympic Committee, and being able to host the Brazilian National Football Team here at our home will be an honor. It will be another attraction for our members. Football in Gávea is very symbolic, and we already had the idea of bringing professionals to train here occasionally and improving the structure for the national team, which is in line with our interests," said the red-and-black president. "If Brazil wins, it will be because they trained here," Patricia concluded.
