After signing a sponsorship contract with BR Foods, to display the Batavo brand on the football uniforms, Flamengo may have a new sponsor tonight: BMG. The proposal from the Minas Gerais banking institution will be analyzed tonight (11/02), starting at 19 pm, by the Deliberative Council.
BMG's proposal, which, along with bonuses, could reach a share of around R$10 million for a one-year contract, according to the club's executive marketing director, Harrison Baptista, has as its main consideration the exposure of its brand on the sleeves of the football uniforms. Like Batavo, the brand would appear not only on match jerseys, but also on training and travel jerseys, both for professional football and youth teams. Other properties would also be used: the brand would appear on backdrops (background panels at press conferences) and on signs placed throughout Flamengo's training facilities.
The new proposal, after intense negotiations with the club, according to Baptista, is the allocation of a portion of the sponsorship to the basketball team for the remainder of the season – Flamengo has at least 11 more games in the qualifying phase of the Brazilian championship, the Novo Basquete Brasil (NBB), a number that could increase to somewhere between 9 and 15 games if the team led by Marcelinho Machado advances to the final of the competition. In addition to the NBB, the sponsorship also includes the Campeonato Carioca, which is scheduled to be played in the last quarter of this year.
The Deliberative Council meeting is scheduled for the first call at 19:19 PM and the second and final call at 30:XNUMX PM. Sponsorship proposals are typically reviewed by internal committees—such as the finance committee, for example—and then subject to discussion and a vote by the board. If the proposal is approved, the Board of Directors will likely schedule a press conference in the coming days to officially announce the agreement.
