Flamengo reopens gymnasium and indoor soccer field
Patricia Amorim presented to members two more spaces revitalized by the current red-black board

This Saturday morning (29.09) was busy at Flamengo's headquarters in Gávea. There was the inauguration of the Togo Renan Soares gymnasium, which was completely restored, and also the indoor soccer field, FlaPel. In addition to the professional soccer training, in preparation for the classic against Fluminense, this Sunday (30.09).
The renovation of the Togo Renan Soares gymnasium was carried out in partnership with the United States Olympic Committee (USOC). Because it was renovated by Flamengo employees, Flamengo saved R$300 and only had to pay for the materials. Floating parquet flooring based on international volleyball and futsal standards was installed on the court, and the gymnasium's tiles were completely refinished.
The inauguration of the gymnasium, which is home to volleyball and futsal, was attended by Olympic champions Fabi and Jacqueline Silva, the American Consul General, John Creamer, the executive director of Effect Sport, Pedro Monteiro, the vice president of administration and Fla-Gávea, Cacau Cotta and the president of Flamengo, Patricia Amorim, who did not hide her satisfaction at having yet another revitalized space at the club.
"I'd like to first thank everyone at the American committee for this great partnership that enabled us to renovate the entire flooring for this gymnasium. Once again, we've shown the difference between dreaming and achieving. Many people criticize and criticize, but we continue to build and renovate new spaces for athletes and members. Olympic-level athletes like Fabi and Jacque have graduated here, and our goal is for Flamengo to continue developing great athletes and become a global benchmark. Another mission accomplished," said Patricia.
American Consul John Creamer, who visited the club for the first time this Saturday, was very pleased with what he saw.
"I'm very happy to be here today with my friends from Flamengo. This is my first time here, and I'm very pleased with the results of this partnership. Flamengo has a great reputation in the United States, which began with President Barack Obama's visit last year. On behalf of the committee, I'd like to thank everyone who helped with this renovation," said John.
The athletes, Jacque and Fabi, who started their careers in the sport at Flamengo, were also thrilled to see the court they grew up on completely renovated.
"I joined this club in 1972, and it's great to see all the change here. I'm very pleased to know that President Patricia continues to encourage the young and future great athletes of this club. The social aspect is alive and well, and people are very happy here at the club. It's great to see kids involved in sports," said Jacque.
"I started playing for Flamengo in 1992 and spent my entire childhood and adolescence here. This is another gift from the president to all the athletes and members. And this is very special to us. Flamengo is fundamental in my life as a person and it's great to see it evolving," said Fabi.
Vice President Cacau Cotta highlighted the importance of investing in futsal for the future of football and the motto that "Flamengo makes crack at home."
"Investing in futsal is investing in football. Many stars who graduated here started out in futsal, like Adilio, Uri Gueller, Adriano, and others. That's why we've completely renovated this space for the use of these athletes, who are future stars," said Cacau.
While still at the club, American Consul John Creamer visited the players of the professional soccer team, who trained at Gávea, and took photos with them.
The FlaPel field, which was also inaugurated, received new synthetic turf after 10 years of use of the previous one, also benefiting the soccer schools operating there. The new two-tone turf will feature 50mm monofilament yarns, a much more modern technology than the previous one.
"Another mission accomplished by this administration, which was committed to offering members a better club. The club should be the place where the Flamengo family meets, and the Gávea headquarters is that family's home. Our job is to deliver, not to talk. This is a space that you, members, rightfully deserve. We want the best in the world for Flamengo, and we will continue working to make that happen," Patricia concluded.
