Rubro-Negro is acquitted of one case, but another one will be filed this Friday

The Red-Black Nation can breathe a little easier. In the first of two trials Flamengo faces this week at the Superior Court of Sports Justice (STJD), the club was acquitted this Thursday, for the second time, in the case of incidents during the match against Vasco da Gama on September 16, when cups were thrown by fans onto the Maracanã pitch.

This same case had already been tried, and Flamengo was acquitted. However, the prosecutor's office appealed, and Flamengo was acquitted again. The complaint filed by the prosecutor's office was a violation of Article 213 (failure to take measures capable of preventing and suppressing disorder in its sports arena), along with Article 157, Section I (consummated, when all the elements of its definition are met), both of the Brazilian Code of Sports Justice (CBJD).

If convicted, Flamengo could lose home-field advantage for up to ten matches, and also pay a fine of R$10 to R$200.

This Friday, Flamengo faces the Tribunal again, in what is considered the most difficult trial yet. The incidents that occurred during the victory over Grêmio, when a beer can and a mortar were thrown onto the field in the direction of the refereeing team, will be analyzed. If punished, the sentence will be the same as that imposed on Thursday.

If found guilty, Flamengo will not be able to use Maracanã to face Atlético-PR on the 25th. For this match, the club has already sold a total of 36.730 tickets.
