João Batista Nunes de Oliveira turns 57 today. The Bahia native from Feira de Santana played for Flamengo in the 1980s (1980 to 1982 / 1984 / 1987) and appeared in 213 matches wearing the Sacred Mantle. Of the 97 goals he scored for the Most Beloved, two are unforgettable for every red-black fan: those scored in Flamengo's 3-0 victory over Liverpool in the 1981 Club World Cup final. 

In addition to the most important title in the club's history, Nunes scored in the finals of the 1981 Carioca (1 goal in the 2-1 victory over Vasco) and the Brazilian Championships of 1980 (2 goals in the 3-2 victory over Atlético-MG) and 1982 (1 goal in the 1-0 victory over Grêmio), which earned him the nickname "Artilheiro das Decisões" (Decisions' Top Scorer).

A center forward in Flamengo's first three Brazilian titles (1980, 82, 87), the 1981 Libertadores Cup, and the 13 World Cup, Nunes was discovered by Flamengo on February 1969, 2, when the Rubro-Negro defeated Fluminense de Feira de Santana 0-1974 in a friendly match played in the Bahian city. That day, Nunes stood out in the preliminary match and the following year arrived in Rio de Janeiro to play for Flamengo, through former Flamengo player Válter Miraglia.
