Midfielder Ibson and goalkeeper Diego, 2009 Brazilian champions with Flamengo, are organizing the now-traditional "Happy New Year" with right-back Léo Matos of Vila Nova. The event enters its fourth year with plenty of celebration and solidarity. On the 23rd, at 15 pm, the Clube 5 de Julho field in São Gonçalo will be the stage for beautiful plays and performances by stars of the past and present. The goal is to collect non-perishable food items that will be distributed to underprivileged communities in the municipalities of Niterói. This year's goal is to collect approximately 75 tons of food, surpassing the 20 mark by 2008 tons.

"Diego, Léo, and I are childhood friends. We grew up in São Gonçalo, and we try to throw this party every year-end to collect food and help those in need. It's a way we found to repay the affection we receive from the people of the region. We hope to once again fill the club and provide a great party for everyone," said Ibson.

"It's a chance to bring together great friends we have in football and some artists around a noble cause. Besides being a charity event, Happy New Year is a great party," Diego added.

Among this year's guests are: Romário, Adriano (Flamengo), Júlio César (Inter-ITA), Luiz Alberto (Fluminense), Hélton (Porto), Jean (Santos), Obina (Flamengo), Diego Souza (Palmeiras), Carlos Alberto (Vasco), Welliton (Spartak-RUS), Rafael Carioca (Spartak-RUS), Renato Augusto (Bayer Leverkusen-ALE), Fellype Gabriel (Portuguesa), in addition to the Master team match between Flamengo and Botafogo, which will be attended by coach Andrade. Leading the party will be Diogo Nogueira, Alcione, Sandra de Sá, Cris and Bruno, from the pagode group Sorriso Maroto, Flavinho from Fundo de Quintal, Mauro Júnior and Xandy, from Revelação and the Viradouro drum section.
