Wearing the number 2 on his back, Leandro established himself as the greatest right-back of all time. But neither fame, recognition, nor titles could overshadow the love the "Fried Fish" feels for Flamengo. Beyond his talent, he paraded across the pitch for 12 years, displaying his admiration for the sacred jersey, his second skin. In fact, he never wore anything else.

Thirty years ago, Leandro was experiencing the most epic moment of his career. He managed to give the red-and-blacks the joy he always dreamed of feeling. God wanted it to be on the field, for him to be one of the protagonists, and this moves the star. Even after so long.

"I'm always grateful for the opportunity I had to play for Flamengo, my favorite club. I start talking about Flamengo and I get emotional. I learned a lot here and I thank everyone," said Leandro, without first leaving a message for today's players and the fans.

"I'd like to say, from the bottom of my heart, that we played for Flamengo. Many other players played for Flamengo, but didn't play. Playing for Flamengo isn't just about wearing the jersey and taking pictures. Every player who joins the club should take a course to see what it's like, how to respect the fans and teammates. In our group, the more we won, the more humble we were and the more we wanted to win," he said.

Leandro wore only the Flamengo jersey throughout his career. In total, he played 417 games, scored 14 goals, and helped them win 16 titles, including the most important of all: the 1981 World Cup.
