Another absurd case at Flamengo
Flamengo's legal and financial departments are trying to resolve cases that would make even the most playful and bald fan's hair stand on end. The latest example involves former employee Cláudio Zohar.
Last month, the club lost R$495 in a first-instance lawsuit filed by him, who worked on advertising projects during Edmundo Santos Silva's administration. However, the high amount is surprising, as it refers to only two months and 19 days of work—the time he is registered as an employee of Flamengo. In other words, it amounts to approximately R$6,2 per day of work.
Zohar demands, among other things, overtime pay for having accompanied the former president to some Flamengo games and events.
Another case also pending in court involves a volleyball player hired in 2001 who is demanding R$300. Because of this action, Flamengo's accounts were frozen for a week.

Club signs contract to create TV-Flamengo
Flamengo has signed a contract creating TV-Flamengo for the Internet, which can be accessed through the club's official website. TV-Fla is expected to go live within the next 15 days, and Flamengo fans will be able to watch team training sessions and behind-the-scenes footage, including before and after games.
For the first few months, access to the TV will be free, but after that, users will need to register and pay a fee to watch the programming, which will all be dedicated to the club.
Major clubs around the world, such as Real Madrid, Milan, Arsenal and Manchester United, already have their own television channels.

Fla will have equipment like those in Beijing-2008
Flamengo has taken an important step towards the First World of football. In the coming weeks, the Gávea weight room will join the ranks of the most modern in Brazil, having been refitted with more than 80 high-tech equipment. This is part of the partnership between the club and Technogym, which will also build the gyms for the Olympic sports and Ninho do Urubu gyms in Vargem Grande.
The equipment was purchased under a deal in which Flamengo will pay only a portion. Approximately 40% of the total amount will be deducted in exchange for the club, which will have to display the Technogym brand on the backdrop and billboards—and will also be able to set up an office in Gávea.
According to soccer manager Isaías Tinoco, only a few new devices have arrived so far. Once everything is installed, Flamengo should be a benchmark in the industry, according to company representative Gustavo Máximo.
"Flamengo is buying the latest generation of equipment. Nothing in Beijing will be more modern than what they'll have in Gávea," explains Gustavo, noting that 98% of European teams use equipment from the Italian company, which also built the rooms for Vasco, Palmeiras, Corinthians, and Atlético-PR.
"Inter Milan's gym is huge, but the equipment isn't as modern as the ones Flamengo is acquiring. Corinthians rebuilt its gym six years ago, but Flamengo is using our latest equipment. São Paulo also wanted to upgrade, but they wanted a 100% exchange. Flamengo will have the same equipment models used at the Rio Pan American Games," he emphasized.

Fla takes another step towards joining Timemania
Flamengo took an important step toward joining Timemania this Wednesday. The club's legal department requested payment in installments, which could be paid by Monday.
"We've started requesting payment in 240 monthly installments. We haven't signed up yet. This is just a step toward making that happen," explained Adalberto Ribeiro, Flamengo's vice president of legal affairs.
According to him, the club's debt to the Federal Government was estimated at around R$200 million. With the INSS (National Institute of Social Security) alone, the club's debt is R$59,7 million – the largest among clubs.

Diego gets Flamengo's number 20 shirt
Since Flamengo retired the number 12 jersey in honor of the club's fans, the backup goalkeeper, who has been Diego lately, will have to wear a jersey without that number. In an interview with Rádio Brasil, Isaías Tinoco, Flamengo's football manager, revealed that Diego's jersey number has already been decided.

Zico: 'Player must know Fla's history'
The massive Flamengo fan turnout for recent matches at Maracanã didn't surprise the Flamengo nation's greatest idol. For Zico, the team's repeated record attendance at games demonstrates what he's always known:
"This only reaffirms the club's greatness. It's important that everyone who plays there knows who they represent. The men who lead the club must demonstrate what it means to be Flamengo. The images from old games introduce the players of our generation to the youngsters. Even today, many admire me without ever having seen me play live. It's these images that make an impression. The father tells the boy, he grows up without knowing, but when he sees the image, he confirms what we did," he said.
And the new generation of Flamengo fans will soon gain another addition. Bruno, Zico's son, will become a father in the coming months. The boy will be the first grandchild of the greatest idol in the history of Flamengo.
"There's no way he's not a Flamengo fan. In fact, a very Flamengo fan. He's the son of the biggest Flamengo fan in the family," said Grandpa Zico.
