Flamengo's president talks about Engenhão, Maracanã, and the new Gávea. Where will the home be?

Engenhão, Maracanã, or the new Gávea? Flamengo fans wait daily to find out where the red-and-black home will ultimately be. For president Marcio Braga, the answer is: all three stadiums.

But one at a time. The main idea is to revitalize the Gávea headquarters, building an arena for 30 fans and a small entertainment system. However, there are problems.

Residents' associations near the site met with Rio de Janeiro Governor Sérgio Cabral and asked him to veto the project. For now, the president is awaiting Flamengo's arguments. However, he has informed his press office that his prerogative is not to go against the opinion of the State Attorney General's Office (PGE).

The president of Flamengo, Marcio Braga, knows this and is trying to get the PGE to reformulate the report that rejects the new stadium.

"The logic of the prosecutor's opinion is flawed. That's what we're going to challenge. Mayor Cesar Maia once again said traffic is a fabrication. This is the economic interests of the neighborhood against Flamengo. They're backed by powerful people," Marcio Braga accuses.

Engenhão will belong to Botafogo for 20 years

This Wednesday, Marcio Braga attended the Engenhão bidding process alongside Botafogo president Bebeto de Freitas and promoted the possibility of a merger between the two clubs. The Flamengo executive explained:

"Flamengo was there in solidarity. Our stadium is the priority. But it would be ready in at least three years. In the meantime, we'd have to play somewhere, and Botafogo will be at Engenhão for 20 years. We can partner for three or four years. That's all."

But in reality, the club's biggest dream is for the club to lease the Maracanã stadium. Flamengo's interest is certainly there, but it's still just a fantasy.

"There isn't even a public notice there yet. Therefore, we can't give an opinion. And it's even more complicated because they're talking about a public-private partnership. We need to know what we, the private sector, would be involved in," declares Marcio Braga.

For now, Flamengo continues to use Maracanã as a rental home. And with the extremely high fees
