Close to the one million page views mark on their website, Uruba and Urubinha will also entertain the fans at Maracanã this Brasileirão
The club's new mascot is a real "lucky charm"! Born on November 15th, when Flamengo celebrated its 112th anniversary, Urubinha is already celebrating its first title. He is the offspring of Uruba, a Flamengo-obsessed vulture and grandson of Vô Uruba, whose statue greets fans at the club's headquarters. The dedicated website receives 70 unique visits monthly and is close to reaching 1 million pageviews in just five months. There, fans can find the club's history, images, virtual gifts, games, and activities. A pioneering initiative by Flamengo: the largest online platform dedicated to children and young fans in the country, updated every two weeks.
Now that Urubinha is older and can go to the stadium, Uruba will be the cheerleader at Maracanã for Flamengo's home games. His father wants to show his son the fantastic fans and awaken in him the pride of being a Flamengo supporter. This meeting will take place on May 24th, at the match against Internacional.
From a marketing perspective, the mascots will expand the licensing of products, promotions, and communication for the Club. "They already account for 10% of website traffic, even before they've stepped onto the field," reinforces the executive marketing director, Ricardo Jorge Hinrichsen Jr. In addition to the fun and new products aimed at children, Uruba and Urubinha will also play a social role. Since they can fly, they will act as inspectors.
ecological initiatives in the city, informing fans on how to act to respect and preserve the environment.
Uruba and Urubinha are a metaphor for the return of families to stadiums and will encourage citizenship and responsible behavior among fans without, of course, forgetting their primary vocation: to bring fun and joy to children.
