When construction begins at Flamengo's training center in Vargem Grande, it will focus on building the professional team's facilities. With the revenue generated by the "Red-Black Forever" project, the blocks for the first team will be the first to be completed, still in 2011, but Flamengo's youth divisions will not be forgotten.
With an area of 138.000 m², the "Ninho do Urubu" site will, according to the new project, include two training centers in one.
"In reality, we are dealing with two training centers within a single plot of land. One focused on the youth academy, and the other on the professional team, which will operate independently, without the operation of one interfering with the other. The project is quite functional, simple to execute, and built in modules that allow for phased construction," said Alexandre Wrobel, vice-president of assets at Flamengo.
The youth divisions' 'block' will be built with two floors, divided into three wings. The first will have accommodation, a dining hall, support rooms, and administrative offices for resident and non-resident youth football players. The second will have all the support infrastructure for wings I and III, such as a kitchen, pantries, general services, and staff, while the third will have accommodation, a dining hall, support rooms, and administrative offices for external delegations and, if necessary, for professional football.
