More than a year after President Barack Obama and his family visited the Gávea headquarters, President Patricia Amorim received an official letter on Tuesday night from First Lady Michelle Obama, thanking her for the gifts given by the red-black leader during the visit.

In addition to the shirt worn by the American president, the president of Flamengo also gave shirts to Michelle and her daughters.

The document, bearing the White House watermark, is dated June, but was sent to the US Consulate in Brazil for forwarding to Flamengo. An official photo of the meeting was also sent to the club.

Below is the translation of the letter:
Thank you so much for your generous gift to our family, and I hope you know how much we appreciate your thoughtfulness.

The kindness of people around the world continues to amaze me, and I am filled with hope for our shared future. Every day, even as our interconnected nations face distinct challenges, my faith in a better future continues to grow stronger each day.

We greatly admire your generosity and kindness and wish you all the best.

Sincerely,

Michelle Obama
