The presence of Flamengo's young fans was the biggest attraction at the Flamengo stand this Wednesday (November 30.11), the closing day of Soccerex, the international football fair held at Copacabana Fort, Rio de Janeiro. The most sought-after player by fans was undoubtedly midfielder Luiz Antônio. Besides him, OPG champions César, Pedrinho and Lucas also represented Mengão at the event.
Always smiling, Luiz Antônio arrived at Soccerex accompanied by his parents, praised the red-and-black stand and congratulated the club on its initiative to participate in an event of this magnitude.
"I thought it was really cool. There are trophies, flags, shirts. I think it's really cool that Flamengo is participating in the event to show the strength the club has to the world. Yesterday I was at home watching Soccerex on TV and I felt like coming here," said the midfielder.
The players also held a raffle at the Flamengo stand for a jersey autographed by the senior squad and a flag autographed by the juniors. Still elated by OPG's recent victory, Pedrinho commented on the significance of the title.
"We fought and worked hard. We needed this title, because we know that at Flamengo the pressure is always greater," commented the player.
Lucas also highlighted the title won by the red-and-black boys last weekend, when the team defeated Fluminense in a penalty shootout at Gávea. For him, the young athletes' achievement was an important step toward professional opportunities.
"Winning a title is important individually for the entire group. We know that Professor Luxemburgo is always watching our group and a title is essential to show that the work is being done well."
Finally, goalkeeper César, who was injured and unable to play in the final match of the junior final, celebrated the fact that he was able to represent Flamengo at Soccerex.
"It's always great to be able to represent Flamengo. Even more so after winning such an important title as the OPG," he concluded.
