Every soccer fan knows the size and power of Flamengo's fan base. Flamengo fans are incredibly proud of this, and their rivals try to evade the issue of the club's dominance across the globe. Some even try to manipulate polls to approximate the nearly 40 million Flamengo fans, but there's no arguing with numbers.
On Monday (10.09), a study carried out by the marketing agency Gerardo Molina/Euromericas, from Argentina, was released in the 'hermana press' and in it, Flamengo occupied the position of club with the largest fan base in the world. According to the survey, the Mais Querido has 39,1 million fans, far behind the second place, Chivas Guadalajara, from Mexico, which has 33,8 million fans.
The Brazilian team closest to Flamengo, according to the Argentine study, is Corinthians, which ranks fourth in the rankings with 28 million fans. In third place, above the São Paulo team, is another Mexican team, América, with 29,4 million.
The survey was based on several studies conducted in countries such as Brazil, Argentina, Mexico, Spain, Germany, Italy, England, Portugal, France, the Netherlands, and Japan. Vale notes that in all the locations mentioned, the Argentine agency relied on its own consultants to reduce the margin of error.
