Uruba, Flamengo's vulture mascot, had been somewhat distant from Maracanã. Once upon a time, he was always on the stadium's marquee, watching matches and cheering on the team. But the intolerance and violence of some fans began to take the shine off the spectacle. Families stopped attending the stadium as much as before, and even Uruba, a Flamengo fan, no longer wanted to witness the sad scenes that were unfolding.

But with the birth of his cub right on the club's anniversary, Uruba wants to relive the good old days as a mascot and show the little vulture his passion for Flamengo and the fantastic Flamengo fans. As soon as the little one grows a little, Uruba will take him to the field and show him all this magic. \The return to Maracanã, besides the pride of showing off his cub, will be with the aim of bringing a message of peace: football is fun and for the whole family.\

Mascots strengthen relationships with children and young people.

Uruba and his son arrive to expand Flamengo's marketing efforts. With applications in communications, promotions, and licensing, the characters offer a language designed to win the hearts of parents and children alike. In 2008, Uruba and his son—now grown and increasingly resembling his father—will make their appearance before fans at the Maracanã stadium and will liven up the opening and halftime performances of Flamengo's home matches.

For now, fans can browse the website and follow the mascots' intimate moments and the cub's growth through "photos" (updated biweekly). They can also play games and, in the future, download character apps.
