Flamengo and Fluminense's junior teams faced off early Sunday afternoon in Gávea, and the home team prevailed. Still dreaming of winning the Taça Guanabara, the first round of the Carioca championship in this category, the Rubro-Negro thrashed the Tricolor 5-2, but didn't quite claim victory. That's because the leader Tigres also took the field and defeated Macaé 3-1, reaching 33 points, to Flamengo's 30. The championship rules for the junior team are different. All teams face off in a home-and-away format, with the champions facing off in the final. If the same team wins both rounds, they claim the title.
