The Clube de Regatas do Flamengo feels obliged to publicly and officially express its dismay at the granting of a preliminary injunction in a class action lawsuit filed by a Leblon residents' association that aims to halt construction work on the Gávea Revitalization Project.

Initially, our surprise is due to the fact that the club is in possession of all the necessary licenses for the smooth running of the works.

Furthermore, preventing the implementation of what we propose is not allowing the entrepreneurial initiative of a century-old institution to recover a sports park that will provide social and recreational services to its members and to the communities of the south zone and, consequently, beautify and reinvigorate the city of Rio de Janeiro itself.

However, we take this opportunity to inform and reassure our members and fans regarding Flamengo's participation in the bids that aim to privatize the “Engenhão” and create a public-private partnership for the management of the “Maracanã”.

We believe these proposals involve important lines of action that complement the Gávea Revitalization Project. We are analyzing them, together with our technicians and consultants, and will participate in the bidding processes.
