Clube de Regatas do Flamengo announces that its president, Patricia Amorim, will be in London for the next 10 days, representing the club, which has, among Brazilian clubs, the largest number of members of the green-yellow delegation at the 2012 Olympic Games – 20 athletes and five coaches.
The Olympic Games also provide an opportunity to explore sports partnerships and commercial agreements, with a view to hosting the 2016 Olympics in Rio de Janeiro. For example, Flamengo already has a partnership with the United States Olympic Committee (USOC), where the club will serve as a training center for the U.S. Olympic and Paralympic teams in the sports where it has facilities. USOC will invest in Flamengo, providing structural improvements to the headquarters.
During this period, as determined by the statutes, the club's general vice-president, Hélio Paulo Ferraz, will be responsible for leading the Board of Directors in Brazil.
Under the guidance of President Patricia Amorim, the Vice President General will begin a project to overhaul the club's management, which will be based on a study prepared by Accenture, to be submitted to him upon his return to Brazil. In addition to this study, which has already been prepared, other studies are underway.
The central idea is that the vice-presidents form part of this Council in a collegial manner, with executive functions performed by professionals hired for each specific area of the club's administration.
The first step in this direction will be the hiring of an executive director of control and finance, in the same way that we already have an executive director of Football, and these two executives will have to exhaust the issues common to both sectors.
In the meantime, all applicable statutory formalities will be respected, without prejudice to the adoption of the concept explained above.
The implementation of this model should result, in the next fiscal year, in the hiring of a professional CEO (General Director), reporting to the Board of Directors for approval of goals, objectives and corresponding monitoring of results.
