Official Note - An end to violence and intimidation
Flamengo suspends, as a precaution, Cacau Cotta for accusations of physical assault against the current manager of Fla-Gávea
By Communication - Official Club Website - inThe president of the Clube de Regatas do Flamengo, Eduardo Bandeira de Mello, signed this Monday (18.02), a precautionary measure of 30 days suspension of the former vice-president of Fla-Gávea, Mr. Luiz Cláudio Cotta da Silva Monteiro, known as Cacau Cotta, partner-owner since December 11, 2009.
Accused of physically and emotionally assaulting the current executive manager of Fla-Gávea, Mr. Clément Izard, during Sunday's derby against Botafogo at the Engenhão stadium, Cacau Cotta was charged under Article 60 of the statute. The motive for the assault, according to Clément, was Cotta's dissatisfaction with the dismissal of his sister, a former Flamengo employee.
Cacau Cotta will face disciplinary proceedings, in accordance with the Club's Statute.
Flamengo's board of directors expresses its greatest solidarity with employee Clemént Izard and reiterates that the measures regarding changes in the Club's staff – with the appreciation of good professionals and the dismissal of those who remained in their positions due to family relationships and/or sponsorships – are an unequivocal decision of the entire Executive Group and will continue to be implemented until a staff capable of providing the club and its members with first-class work is formed.
Democracy allows for disagreement of ideas and the coexistence of opposites. Never violence or intimidation. This does not reflect the greatness of Flamengo. Therefore, attitudes like these will not be tolerated at Clube de Regatas do Flamengo.
