The Deliberative Council of Clube de Regatas do Flamengo (Code) called its members to an extraordinary meeting this Thursday (22.01), to deliberate on the desire expressed by the owner members with more than two years of association, to immediately join the permanent body of the Deliberative Council (Code) after the election held on 08/12/2014.

The Code's Legal Committee, when asked to comment in advance, did not define a position on accepting the applications of these shareholders. The Committee released two opinions, with opposing views on the matter, for consideration by the plenary.

It seems clear to us, the Board of Directors, that the prerogative of these owner members to join the Code, under the terms of art. 86, § 1, of the Bylaws, must be respected, and there is no worthy statutory basis to prevent the exercise of this right, notwithstanding our full appreciation and respect for the independence of the Club's Powers.

Furthermore, we understand that Flamengo only becomes truly strong when it relies on the support and contributions of its members and board members, who demonstrate honorable and passionate volunteerism. Therefore, we cannot oppose the democratic participation of those who now also want to join the Code to help, nor can we condone the misleading claims that this vote could result in the removal of current board members—a situation that has no statutory basis and cannot even be considered.

The presence of the counselors at the meeting on January 22, 01, is therefore essential for maintaining the democratic principles that have always guided the Code's actions and, we believe, will result in the victory of legality, political renewal and the greatness of the current counselors.
