Flamengo deserves much more

From what we know and hear, Flamengo will have a large stadium, with all the facilities for international matches, with capacity for the largest audiences.

I don't see why there's such an outcry, nor this petty ill will from those who have no grapes to eat.

Flamengo, like all the clubs in this city, is an element in the preparation of the national spirit. It is more than anyone lives, in every corner of Brazil, in the enthusiasm of its fans who are a true legion.

If there is a national club, it will be Flamengo, the creation of the most authentic Brazilian spirit.

Flamengo is Brazilians of all colors, all classes, and all positions. Flamengo is Mr. Eurico Gaspar Dutra, Mr. Nereu Ramos, Mr. Juraci Magalhães, my newspaper boy, my tennis ball boy, the Great Otelo, the painter Portinari, the Brazil of all parties.

And if Flamengo has its giant stadium it is because it deserves much more
