Santa Claus kicks off Christmas in Gávea
In addition to the visit from Santa Claus, Club members are treated to a great show by circus artists.

The 25th hasn't arrived yet, but the atmosphere at the Gávea clubhouse is already Christmas-like. This Saturday morning (December 21.12st), a visit from a certain gentleman from the North Pole brought immeasurable joy to the families attending the club. At 11:40 a.m. to be precise, a helicopter landed on the soccer field; Santa Claus emerged, immediately surrounded and embraced by the large number of children waiting for him.
"Events like today's (Saturday) are designed to bring more life to Gávea. This enhances the community's life and provides an opportunity for children. This was our goal, and we hope to hold more events, which will be even more structured and organized, throughout 2014. Today was a success due to the number of children, their happiness, and the activities. We are very happy with the initiative, which proved to be worthwhile and was very well received by members," said Rafael Strauch, vice president of Fla-Gávea.
After arriving at the soccer field, Santa Claus immediately headed to the Hélio Maurício Gymnasium. There, he sat in a comfortable armchair and began a photo session with everyone in attendance. After meeting Santa, each family received a free printed photo of that magical moment.
However, the morning of fun for the red-and-black children began well before Santa's arrival. At 9 a.m., also at the Hélio Maurício Gymnasium, a children's activities show began. Clown Thesco Villares was the first to entertain the kids. Afterwards, characters such as Shrek and his friend Donkey, Galinha Pintadinha, Mickey Mouse, and Minnie Mouse danced and entertained everyone in attendance.
Internationally renowned artist Ricardo Sacramento also performed before Santa's arrival. A juggler and tightrope walker, he performed impressive acts that drew much applause. Another standout performer was magician Zamboni, one of Rio de Janeiro's best.
