President praises approval of contract with BMG as a sign of good times for the club

Flamengo president Patricia Amorim expressed her satisfaction with the outcome of the extraordinary meeting of the Deliberative Council. In a brief interview with the official website on Thursday night, still in the Salão Nobre da Gávea, Patricia Amorim commented on the approval of the sponsorship contract with Banco BMG.
"Flamengo is currently consolidating its present and looking to its future. Our current situation is under control. I wouldn't say it's resolved, but it's manageable. This sponsorship will provide peace of mind for the payment of commitments. At the same time, this contract paves the way for a greater partnership in the future," said Flamengo's president.
For the president, the Council's decision is final. "The significant presence of council members, and their voting in favor, is a sign that Flamengo is in an extremely positive moment," she concluded.
Banco BMG's sponsorship guarantees R$8 million for a one-year contract for soccer and another R$500.000,00 for the basketball season, in addition to the possibility of prize money if the professional soccer team achieves certain sporting goals. Flamengo will receive R$1 million in prize money if it wins the Libertadores Cup for the second time and another million if it wins the Brazilian Championship in 2010. A spot in the top four guarantees half of that amount.
