On the evening of last Monday (7) the BPW-Rio 2011 Women's Award - Highlight was presented at the Julieta de Serpa Art and Culture House in Flamengo, South Zone of Rio. This award honored women who make a difference in the Rio de Janeiro and Fluminense communities in the categories of Education, Health, Culture, Social Action, Environment, Science and Technology, Medium-sized Companies, Large Companies, Sports and Fashion. The event, a partnership between the NGO Association of Business and Professional Women of Rio de Janeiro (BPW-Rio) and Casa Brasil, combined elegance and relaxation. Among those present was the host of the evening, Alice Tamborindeguy, who has presided over BPW-Rio since the beginning of the year.

President Patricia Amorim won in the Sports category. In her speech, she made it clear that "being president of Flamengo isn't for everyone."

"Trying to bring the club ever closer to its fans is a constant challenge because it doesn't have a logical foundation. Your work often doesn't depend on your administrative skills, but on whether the ball goes in or hits the post. Personally, the difficulty of being a woman and constantly experiencing distrust, since it's a predominantly male environment, is enormous. I express my femininity through organization, sensitivity, patience, and, above all, good humor."

The other winners were as follows: in the Medium Business category, Angela Costa; Aniela Jordan, in the Culture category, nominated by Vera Tostes, director of MHN; Belita Koiller, in the Science Technology category; Glorinha Paranaguá, in the Fashion category; judge Ivone Ferreira Caetano won in the Social Action category; in the Large Business category, Maria Silva Bastos Marques; Samyra Crespo, Environment; Education for Terezinha Saraiva; Vera Gaensly Cordeiro, Health category and also took the Special Highlight award.
