A generational gathering marked Flamengo's 117th anniversary celebrations. Past stars graced the festivities at the club's headquarters. Former players played a festive match for Flamaster, a team made up of former Mengão players. The group split into two teams for the exhibition on the sacred Gávea pitch. The game featured former athletes such as Zinho, Adílio, Jorginho, Claudio Adão, Piá, Marquinho, Julio Cesar Uri Gueler, Nélio, Jaime de Almeida, Leandro Ávila, and others.

Zinho wasn't messing around. The former midfielder and current director of football at the club was the star of the match, scoring four of the club's six goals in the victory. The white-shirted team found the net four times.

"We even joke around before the game, but when the ball rolls around it's different, everyone wants to win (laughs). This date is sensational. I'm very happy to be here celebrating Flamengo's 117th anniversary. And it's great to see friends again, some of whom you rarely see," says Zinho, who plans to participate in the game in the coming years.

"My hair will be grayer and my belly will probably be bigger (laughs), but it will be an honor (to participate in the festive games). Regardless of whether I'm working at the club or not, I want to participate; after all, we're part of history. And playing a game is always good. Whenever I can, I'll be here," he adds.

Adílio, another Flamengo idol, showed that, even in retirement, he's still a great player. The former player showed off his technique and greeted his friends at the end of the match.

"It's an emotion. It's 117 years. And being here with Claudio Adão, Nélio, Zinho, Piá and so many other friends is really cool. So it's really important to be part of this party here. If you leave us with the ball here, we'll be playing until morning," said Adílio.

Nélio, who shone at Mengão in the generation after Adílio's, also delighted the crowd. The former player emphasized that he would like to play more pick-up games like the one he plays today. He says it's good to reconnect with friends and relive the longing for the sacred mantle.

"It's always good to be here, in the place where I started. I've played here for almost 18 years, from the youth teams to the professional ranks. We're always happy to be able to return. We wish we could have this reunion not just every year, but always. It's good to be able to see friends again. Champions, players I was a fan of when I played. So this party is really cool for Flamengo's anniversary," said Nélio, who calls himself a Flamengo fan through and through.

In addition to the masters game, the Gávea lawn hosted two more celebratory matches: club employees faced a team made up of journalists and artists dueled against each other.
